In the textile and garment industry, innovation comes not only from upgrading production lines and adopting new technologies, but also from the creativity of every employee. At Hanoi Textile and Garment Joint Stock Corporation (Hanosimex), the movement to promote innovation and creative initiatives has become part of the corporate culture, encouraging employees to observe, think critically, and find more efficient ways of carrying out familiar tasks. Many initiatives, though small in scale, have delivered significant improvements in productivity, quality, and production costs, helping strengthen the company’s competitiveness.

Sewing workers and production line innovations

Since joining Nam Dan Garment Factory in 2018, Mr. Tran Van Tu continued to develop his skills, mastered various types of sewing machines, and actively guided new workers and interns. He places great emphasis on teamwork, helping his production team earn outstanding performance recognition for many consecutive years and achieve leading results in productivity and quality within the factory.

Driven by a strong sense of responsibility and a commitment to continuous improvement, Mr. Tu has introduced numerous initiatives to streamline production. One notable improvement involved reorganizing the placement and retrieval of semi-finished products, helping output exceed 150% of the previous level while reducing time spent searching, moving materials, and performing unnecessary operations. Another initiative involved sewing the piping on trousers under style code STX 027 using a flat piping guide and feeding two layers of fabric into the machine simultaneously. This method improves stitching accuracy, reduces rework, and increases productivity.

Beyond his technical responsibilities, Tu actively participates in workplace productivity campaigns, 5S activities, cultural events, and sports. His sustained contributions have earned him the title of Advanced Worker for several years, the Corporation’s Emulation Soldier award, second prize at the 2023 Skilled Workers Competition, and recognition as an “Outstanding Core Worker of 2026.”

A technical specialist solving production challenges

With more than eight years of experience maintaining and repairing industrial sewing machines at Nam Dan Garment Factory, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh has consistently taken the initiative to find solutions that keep machinery running reliably, make work easier for operators, and reduce production costs.

One of his most notable innovations was modifying the thread-trimming and loose-thread removal mechanism on quilting machines. By making use of existing equipment, he eliminated the post-sewing thread-cutting process entirely, saving the factory approximately VND 400 million in labor costs during the first eight months of 2025. In another initiative, he modified the machine needle mechanism to sew elasticized ruching onto the back panel without causing wrinkles, producing even, neat gathers while reducing elastic thread breakage. This improvement cut the required workforce from five workers to two and saved approximately VND 30 million in labor costs per month.

In addition to these two notable initiatives, Thanh has developed numerous other improvements recognized by Hanosimex and has received repeated recognition through the company’s innovation and productivity campaigns. In 2026, he received an award his efforts to study and follow Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style.

The initiative, sense of responsibility, and creativity demonstrated by workers can turn practical production challenges into effective solutions, helping reduce costs, improve productivity, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the enterprise.
